On September 1, Secondary School No. 2 in Horadok will reopen after major repairs
— It wasn't easy, but everyone understood that the temporary inconvenience would pay off handsomely, — said Nina Efremova, principal of Secondary School No. 2 in Horodok. — Today, we are in the home stretch. The food block has been radically transformed: separate workshops for different culinary processes, new stoves and refrigeration equipment, and a food serving line have appeared. Even the storage of waste before disposal has been thought out, and a shower cabin for employees is provided. The heating and ventilation, electrical and water supply, and sewage systems have been updated. Lighting fixtures have been replaced. The sports hall, assembly hall, and classrooms have been modernized. The climbing wall, one of the largest in Belarus, has become even more functional and safe. Our students will also not recognize the labor education classrooms. Metal and woodworking machines will be purchased for boys. Sewing and home economics workshops will be equipped for girls. Thus, students in the 10th and 11th grades will be able not only to receive a secondary education but also to obtain the "Joiner" or "Seamstress" (both 2nd category) vocational qualifications, which are in demand in the labor market.
The school will also feature a new language laboratory, which will allow for a more in-depth study of foreign languages. A "Robotics" elective course will be opened based on one of the computer classes. It will be available to children of junior, middle, and senior ages, allowing them to develop in the currently popular IT field. Thanks to technology, the library will be transformed into an information and resource center where one can read a book and search for necessary information on the global network. This will allow for more thorough preparation for lessons and a deeper understanding of topics or issues of interest.
— Funds for major repairs and modernization of the "School of the Future" were allocated by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The cost of the facility amounted to over 1.77 million rubles. In addition, 360 thousand rubles for interior decoration, renovation of classrooms and facade, purchase of furniture and equipment were allocated from the regional budget, — said Natalia Blinova, Deputy Head of the Education Department of the District Executive Committee. — By the way, we plan to soon establish a district center for pre-conscription training on the basis of the school, where young men will learn the basics of military affairs, and girls will undergo medical training. The school has a modern shooting range for conducting training sessions.
The repairs are being carried out by the construction organization LLC "Prof NK". They have proven that they work efficiently and quickly, so the education department has no doubts that the new academic year will start near the renovated building. After that, children, their parents, and honored guests of the celebration will be able to appreciate the interior decoration and modern equipment of the school.
— After completing the repairs, we will proceed with landscaping the territory. Our institution is located in a picturesque place — seemingly in the center of Gorodok, and at the same time, it is secluded from it by the Gorozhanka River and green spaces, — noted Nina Efremova. — If we manage to attract landscaping professionals, we will become one of the attractions of our city. It is gratifying that the leadership of the main department for education of the regional executive committee, including its head Dmitry Khoma, supports our idea.
Secondary School No. 2 of Gorodok was built in 1987.
