November 11 - International Energy Saving Day

11 ноября - Международный день энергосбережения

It was first celebrated on November 11, 2008, after an international meeting of coordinators of the "School Project for Resource and Energy Use" was held in Kazakhstan.

This holiday is celebrated by about 20 participating countries of the program, including Belarus.

Significant work in this direction is also carried out directly in the Vitebsk region, the results of which we can be proud of. By implementing energy saving programs to reduce energy consumption, the targets for reducing the energy intensity of production and the share of local types of fuel are being met.

Thus, eight years ago, the Republican Competition "Energy Marathon" was launched in the Vitebsk region, which has already become traditional. The objectives of the competition are to popularize energy saving among the population and to form in the younger generation the idea that energy saving and environmental protection are an integral part of the state policy of the Republic of Belarus, a matter for everyone, regardless of age, occupation, or position. It is precisely such work that is intensively carried out in educational institutions of the Vitebsk region. Moreover, the system of work of educational institutions in our region in the field of energy saving began to take shape quite a long time ago, even before the adoption of Directive No. 3 of the President of the Republic of Belarus. This is evidenced by the large "harvest" of awards collected by the region at the republican competition "Energy Marathon – 2014".

On the basis of Vitebsk Secondary School No. 12, the first educational and demonstration resource center for energy saving in the Vitebsk region was opened on March 19, 2015. Its main principle and advantage is that absolutely anyone can learn about energy-saving technologies and see how they are implemented in practice.

In July 2015, the project "From Social Dialogue to Social Partnership" aimed at developing adult further education in Vitebsk was launched. The Representative Office of the registered society "DeutscherVolkshochschulVerbande.V." (Federal Republic of Germany) in the Republic of Belarus supported the initiative of the Vitebsk Regional Institute for the Development of Education to continue the implementation of the "learning region" concept in Vitebsk as a basis for learning and knowledge creation in the field of adult further education, the goal of which is to develop social partnership between institutions and organizations of formal and informal adult further education in Vitebsk. This is one example of a modern approach to the rational use of energy resources.
