The Vitebsk tram depot park has been replenished with the "Golden Chariot," although it will never go into service. This is a special award from the International Association of Public Transport, timed to coincide with the 115th anniversary of the first tram in Vitebsk. The history of the Vitebsk tram began in 1896, when the Vitebsk administration signed an agreement with a French citizen, Fernand Guillien, for the construction of an electric tram in the city. In 1898, the first tram went into service.
