On November 2, Orthodox Christians worldwide celebrate Demetrius Parental Saturday
It was established by Grand Prince Dmitry Donskoy to commemorate the Orthodox warriors who fell in the Battle of Kulikovo. More than 250,000 warriors who fought for the Fatherland did not return from the Kulikovo Field. Now this parental day has become the Ecumenical Day of Remembrance for all deceased Christians.
On Friday evening, you can order a liturgy, a panikhida, or a litia in the church for your deceased relatives and, of course, visit the cemetery and tidy up the graves.
