2013 was declared the Year of Frugality in Belarus

The corresponding decree No. 537 was signed by the head of state Alexander Lukashenko on November 29. The adopted decision will contribute to the maximally effective and rational use of natural, fuel and energy, material and labor resources, as well as the introduction of energy and resource-saving technologies and equipment. In addition, it will help foster thriftiness among citizens and organize the observance of economy principles. The Council of Ministers has been instructed to develop and approve a plan for the implementation of the Year of Thrift. It will be a continuation of the directive of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 3 "Economy and Thrift - the Main Factors of Economic Security of the State", adopted in 2007.
