On February 27, the museum in Vitebsk found a new owner
On February 27, the Vitebsk Regional Property Committee sold an architectural monument at auction – house No. 7 on Chekhov Street in Vitebsk, built by merchant Shner Shlyomovly Smolyansky in 1902.
After the revolution, Shner Smolyansky left the city, and the house became ownerless. It was leased to a housing cooperative. After the war, it was renovated and people moved in.
In the 1980s, the former merchant's mansion was transferred to the regional museum of local lore, and workshops were located here. Since 2012, the building has belonged to the Minay Shmyrev Museum.
The museum building had been put up for auction since December 2017, but no one wished to acquire it.
On February 27, the museum building was put up for auction for the 9th time, this time with a reduction in the estimated cost by 80%.
At this price, there was only one buyer – an individual, a resident of the Beshenkovichi district, to whom the property was sold for 36,238 rubles.
In the future, the new owner may reconstruct and use the building for a cultural, educational, or entertainment facility.
Since the beginning of the year, the Vitebsk Regional Property Committee has held 6 successful auctions, 4 of which were for one basic unit, and 2 auctions with a price reduction of 80%.
