April 23, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. 460 thousand residents of the Vitebsk region will take part in the republican subbotnik on April 24, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Economy Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. Participants of the nationwide event on this day will be engaged in improving their settlements, memorial complexes, and places of military glory. For example, Vitebsk residents will take part in the reconstruction of Victory Square, Bogdan Khmelnitsky Street, the construction of a library and the morphological building of the medical university, and a new school for 930 students in the Bilevo-1 microdistrict. Polotsk residents will improve the territory of the Kurgan of Immortality, and residents of neighboring Novopolotsk will tidy up the park area along the Western Dvina River. In addition, special attention in all regions will be paid to pothole repair of asphalt concrete pavements, cleaning of roadside strips, bus stops, painting of road signs, metal barrier fences of bus shelters on republican and regional roads, and planting trees and shrubs. In total, during the subbotnik, the Vitebsk region plans to earn over Br1 billion. Half of the earned funds will be transferred to the republican budget. The second part will be directed to the improvement and repair of military graves, places of military glory, the development of existing and creation of additional infrastructure in agro-towns. -0-
