On June 8, Orthodox Christians worldwide celebrate the Day of the Holy Trinity
Before the Day of the Holy Trinity, which falls on June 8 this year, all deceased Orthodox Christians are commemorated. June 7 is the Trinity Ecumenical Memorial Saturday.
It is imperative on this day to commemorate all deceased relatives and loved ones, primarily during the church memorial prayer service. You can submit a note for commemoration in advance, on Friday evening, for Saturday, ordering a proskomedia, liturgy, or panikhida. If for some reason you could not visit the church, you can pray for the departed at home, as prayer is what is available to us to show compassion, gratitude, and love for those who have departed to another world.
On the Day of the Holy Trinity, on the 50th day after His resurrection, the Lord grants the grace of the Holy Spirit to the apostles. They became courageous, strong, and wise. They created a community of people, within which this gift of the Holy Spirit lives – this community we call the Church of God. It is not by chance that on the day after Trinity, we specially celebrate the Day of the Holy Spirit. This year it falls on June 9.
