Director of her own show. 9-year-old Katya Kalenkevich from Vitebsk has started creating cartoons. It's understandable that everything started small: the first short films, made in the summer, lasted only a few seconds. But recently, the girl has completed a much more ambitious project. It took 4 months and 500 photos to create the animation.

Katya Kalenkevich from Vitebsk, like all children, loves cartoons. However, now the girl watches them not as an ordinary viewer, but as a budding animator. She recently completed her own animated film.

Katya Kalenkevich: "I haven't done this before. Dad suggested we try, we did it, and it worked out."

Anna and Alexander Kalenkevich: "She wanted to try something interesting. We watched a show on TV about how an image is created from frames. Everything was available. We were given a camera and a tripod."

And then it began... The parents did not interfere in the creative process. Except that her younger sister Varya always tried to help. It took 4 months of painstaking work to create "Winter Fun" - that's what Katya named her latest film. And then a few sets of colored paper and one and a half thousand camera flashes. That's how many photos were needed to create a 3-minute cartoon about winter fun and important sports events of this year.

The only thing Katya couldn't do on her own was to edit the finished material. School teachers came to her aid.

Andrey Ispenkov, Computer Science Teacher: "A video editing program helped. We put these photos together in a row, made a video out of it. And then the girl voiced this video herself."

But the curious Vitebsk schoolgirl didn't stop there. Together with her class teacher, the girl conducted a real research project. She became interested in the question of the usefulness or harm of some animated films. Katya drew her own, not childishly serious, conclusions.

Katya Kalenkevich: "Watching cartoons is not only a way for children to spend their time, but also a means of education."

Tatyana Rybakova, class teacher: "Unfortunately, a child does not often listen to their parents' words. But if a classmate demonstrates the benefits or harm of watched cartoons through their own example, it is, of course, more effective."

Now Katya knows a lot about cartoons, and she also gives serious advice on seemingly non-serious issues. She says one should watch domestic cartoons. And one needs to know the measure in this, as in everything else.
