Vitebsk region farmers are provided with everything necessary for high-quality agricultural work - Nikolai Sherstnev

The issues of ensuring the Vitebsk region with fuel and fertilizers, which were raised at the republican selector meeting on crop harvesting, have been resolved. This was announced by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, who inspected the progress of Dubrovno's preparation for the regional "Dazhynki".

"I am very grateful to the head of state and express my sincere thanks not only from myself but also on behalf of all the region's agrarians. We have been heard. The issues with fuel have been resolved to date, potash fertilizers are being supplied to the region, and the issue with phosphate fertilizers is in the final stage of resolution," said Nikolai Sherstnev. "Agrarians are provided with everything necessary for the high-quality completion of agricultural work."

According to the governor, the rural workers are working responsibly and diligently on harvesting and preparing for sowing winter crops. The region has resolved issues with the provision of machine operators to farms.

"There are no problems with harvesting. The peak of work in the grain fields will come in a couple of days. So far, the pace is hampered by the high moisture content of the grain. For example, in the Liozno district, as of August 9, this indicator was 28%. If we harvest such grain, we will have additional costs for drying. Despite this limiting factor, on August 9, we approached a pace of 5% of the area per day. Not only the volume of completed work is increasing, but also the yield," the head of the region summarized.

The governor emphasized that the region's agrarians are working hard on harvesting, and the problems with fuel supply have been resolved. The region has reached good harvesting rates – 5% per day. In this regard, the process of clearing harvested fields of straw also needs to be accelerated.

"Harvesting the grain is only half the job. Next, we need to carry out the entire complex of work on preparing the field for sowing winter crops qualitatively and on time to ensure a good basis for next year's harvest. So far, we have been lagging behind in straw removal – we removed only a third of the harvested volume per day. On August 9, a decision was made to carry out baling around the clock. For this, we need additional labor resources.

"Staff from cities will be involved to help," Nikolai Sherstnev said.

"By freeing up fields in a timely manner, we will be able to carry out agricultural work with high quality and technological efficiency and balance the structure of sown areas. This issue, among others, was raised by the President on August 2 at a republican selector meeting," the governor summed up.
