August 28, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Farmers in the Vitebsk region have harvested over 80% of the grain areas, the Agriculture and Food Committee of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee informed a BELTA correspondent. In total, as of August 28, 398.9 thousand hectares of grain have been mown in the region, or 81.7% of the areas. Less than 4% of the areas remain to be harvested by farms in the Gluboksky and Chashniksky districts before the end of the harvest, 7.6% in the Dokshitsky district. Over 80% of the areas have been harvested by the Beshenkovichi, Verkhnedvinsky, Vitebsk, Lepelsky, Orshansky, Polotsky, Postavsky, Tolochinsky, and Sharkovshchinsky districts. 1.230 million tons of grain have been threshed in the region with an average yield of 30.8 centners per hectare. Over 30 centners per hectare are threshed by agricultural workers in the Beshenkovichi (33.4 centners per hectare), Verkhnedvinsky (36.5 centners per hectare), Gluboksky (31 centners per hectare), Dubrovensky (30.8 centners per hectare), Miorsky (33.4 centners per hectare), Orshansky (35 centners per hectare), Chashniksky (34.2 centners per hectare), and Sharkovshchinsky (32.3 centners per hectare) districts. The harvesting campaign in the Vitebsk region continues to be hampered by frequent rains, which negatively affects the pace of work and also impacts the quality of the harvested crop. Along with grain harvesting, farmers in the region are also actively engaged in other agricultural work. Thus, as of August 28, 81% of flax areas have been weeded in the region, 242 hectares of buckwheat have been harvested with a yield of 323 tons (average yield was 13.3 centners per hectare), 7.7 thousand hectares of spring rapeseed (22% of areas, yield - 10 thousand tons), 244.9 thousand tons of straw have been harvested (30.6% of the target). The application of glyphosate-containing preparations, mineral and organic fertilizers for sowing winter crops, harvesting grasses for the second cut (67.2% of the target mown), harvesting hay (171 thousand tons), haylage (228.7 thousand tons), and silage (107.7 thousand tons) continues. Currently, there are 15.98 centners of feed units per conventional head of cattle. In addition, in some districts, agricultural workers have begun harvesting corn. -0-
