Farmers in the Vitebsk region are significantly ahead of last year's sowing pace for early spring and leguminous crops

Last week's snowy and rainy weather slowed down the sowing progress. Nevertheless, Vitebsk region farmers are significantly ahead of last year's pace.

According to the regional agricultural production department, 76.4 thousand hectares have been sown with early grain and leguminous crops, or 59.7% of the plan (as of April 22, 2023, 49.3 thousand hectares were sown). Work is expected to be completed in one to one and a half days in Orsha (96.1%), Chashniki (95.3%), and Tolochin (93.6%) districts. In total, eleven regions have exceeded 60% of the sowing of these crops.

In addition, 7.1 thousand hectares of spring rapeseed (33.3%) and 4.8 thousand hectares of flax (43.7%) have been sown in Vitebsk region.
