This opinion was expressed today at a joint meeting of the presidium of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies and the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee by the chairman of the regional executive committee, Alexander Kosinets, BELTA correspondent reports. "The honorary title will help increase the motivation of designers' work, and it should be supported by a substantial cash prize," said Alexander Kosinets. The chairman of the regional executive committee is convinced that the design bureaus of industrial enterprises are capable of developing modern, in-demand products that are not inferior to foreign counterparts. He cited the successful development by specialists of OJSC "Orshaagroprommash" of the "Dnepr" trailer with a volume of 15 cubic meters, which can be used as a spreader of organic fertilizers and for transporting bulk cargo. The product of the Orsha machine builders is Br40 million cheaper than that of foreign manufacturers, while its quality meets the best examples of imported equipment. At the same time, many developments of domestic manufacturers have long been outdated. "The factories have a nomenclature of yesterday," stated Alexander Kosinets. In his opinion, if measures are not taken, then in the near future the products of the machine-tool plant "Krasny Borets" and the "Instrument Plant" will remain in demand. According to the Committee for Economics, the share of new products in the industrial output for 10 months of the current year amounted to 18.7%. -0-
