A. Kosinets: a high average salary is the main indicator of regional economic development
March 17, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Increased commitments of the Vitebsk region for the development of the economy and social sphere are a balanced decision. This was stated by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, at a press conference today, according to a BELTA correspondent.
The country has set a goal to reach the level of average wages equivalent to $500 by the end of 2010. "This is the main indicator of the region's economic development," the governor emphasized. This level of average wages should be supported by appropriate economic calculations. The region is solving this problem by adopting higher indicators for 2010.
In particular, it is planned to increase industrial production at comparable prices by at least 25% compared to 2009, consumer goods by 30%, agricultural products in agricultural organizations by 30%, retail trade turnover by 30%, paid services by 80%, investments in fixed assets (excluding organizations subordinate to republican government bodies) by 30%, and exports of goods and services by 50%. The positive balance of foreign trade in goods should be $150 million, and in services - $100 million. 850 thousand square meters of housing should be commissioned. In addition, increased parameters have been determined for the production of main types of agricultural products, the structure of sown areas, the harvesting of fodder crops, the number of employed people, and the energy saving indicator.
The complexity of the tasks requires leaders to adopt non-standard approaches and solutions, emphasized the head of the regional administration. Those accustomed to working according to templates and instructions from above will have to master new methods, and most importantly, make independent decisions. "There are resources for implementing the plans, modern organizational approaches are needed," believes Alexander Kosinets. -0-
