April 8, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. Athletes from 5 countries will take part in the V Open Republican "Cosmonautics Cup" tournament in acrobatic gymnastics and tumbling, which will start in Vitebsk on April 10. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the chief judge of the competition, Alexander Eroshevich.
For three days, more than 100 acrobats from Belarus, Russia, Poland, Lithuania, and Moldova will compete for 9 sets of awards in individual and team exercises. By tradition, the tournament will bring together the strongest athletes from the participating countries, who view the Vitebsk "Cosmonautics Cup" as a preparatory stage for various international competitions in these acrobatic disciplines. This time, winners and prize-winners of world and European championships as part of the Russian delegation will come to Vitebsk.
For Belarusian athletes, the Vitebsk tournament will be their last competition before the next stage of the World Cup in tumbling, which will be held at the end of April in Sofia (Bulgaria), as well as the World Games in May this year. In addition, the "Cosmonautics Cup" will be an excellent opportunity to review young athletes ahead of the 2010 European Tumbling Championships, noted Alexander Eroshevich. So, Vitebsk fans of acrobatics will not have to be bored in the stands.
The award ceremony for the winners and prize-winners of the "Cosmonautics Cup" will take place on April 12, the closing day of the competition. -0-
