The "Immortal Soldiers of the Great Victory" campaign starts in Vitebsk
The "Immortal Soldiers of the Great Victory" campaign to draw attention to the feat of specific participants of the Great Patriotic War starts today in Vitebsk, as reported to a BELTA correspondent by the traffic police department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Internal Affairs Directorate.
Students, postgraduate students, teachers, and staff of PSU named after P. Masherov, as well as the regional State Automobile Inspectorate, have joined the campaign. They have provided the organizers with personal data (full name) and photographs of their relatives – soldiers of the regular army, partisan detachments and formations, or participants of the underground movement during the Great Patriotic War. This material is needed to create A4 posters, which are printed in two copies. One will be used later for organizing an exhibition, and the second will be given to the campaign participant for placement on the side or rear window of their personal vehicle.
Today, the regional traffic police department will host the presentation and placement of about 20 initial posters. Half of them will be on personal vehicles of PSU representatives, and half on official traffic police cars. Notably, the main hero of the traffic police posters is former employee Stepan Shishkin, who fought during the Great Patriotic War and reached Berlin.
The event will run until May 30, and photographs with data can be sent to the organizers until May 4. Participants are responsible for providing accurate data. In disputed cases, the information is verified by the university's history department.
The organizers are the primary trade union organizations of employees and students of PSU named after P. Masherov, the university's BRSM primary organization, and the regional traffic police department.
