The "Cultural Capital of Belarus" campaign will make the best achievements of national culture accessible - P. Latushko

January 21, Polotsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The "Cultural Capital of Belarus" campaign is designed to make the best achievements of national culture accessible to residents of all cities and regions of Belarus. This was stated by Belarusian Culture Minister Pavel Latushko today in Polotsk at the ceremony of signing the action plan for holding the republican campaign "Cultural Capital of 2010", BELTA correspondent reports. "The goal of this campaign is to show that every city, every region of Belarus can become a cultural capital," the minister emphasized. Pavel Latushko considers it symbolic that Polotsk opened the list of Belarusian cities - cultural capitals. "In the country's history, Polotsk was often the first - it was the capital of the most ancient principality. Ancient Belarusian statehood and culture originate from Polotsk, famous Belarusians come from this city, and this city is imbued with military glory," he said. According to the minister, Polotsk will set a worthy example for other regions of the country, and the campaign will continue based on its experience. The regulations on the cultural capital of Belarus will be developed taking into account the experience of its holding in Polotsk. Pavel Latushko did not rule out the possibility that Belarusian cities could also participate in the European campaign "Cultural Capital of Europe". The action plan for holding the "Cultural Capital of Belarus 2010" campaign includes about 60 events. However, this list is open, and the cultural capital is ready to implement new interesting proposals. -0-
