The "Our Villager" campaign has started in the Polotsk region

Акция "Наш вясковец" началась в Полоцком районе

Villagers who left a good memory are honored in the Polotsk district of the Vitebsk region. The "Our Villager" campaign, timed to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the formation of the Vitebsk region, has begun in the Polotsk district, the ideology department of the Polotsk District Executive Committee told a BELTA correspondent.

For several months, the rural councils of the district have been collecting information about those people who lived their whole lives in the village, worked conscientiously, and raised children and grandchildren. They did not receive state awards and have already passed away, but the good memory of their deeds is still alive. Ten names are currently included in this list - among them are 2 teachers, a doctor, three machine operators, two milkmaids, and two workers. In honor of each of them, memorial plaques with warm and simple words about these people will be installed at the places where they once worked. For example, a plaque will appear at the machine yard in the village of Novye Goryany: "Dorofeev Dmitry Egorovich, an honored machine operator, a worker of the Novogoryan land, a conscientious and selfless person, a wonderful family man, a reliable comrade, worked here."

According to the department's specialists, the "Our Villager" campaign is designed not only to preserve the memory of these modest people but also to show the younger generation by their example that any labor on their native land is honorable and respected, and good deeds will never be forgotten.
