The 'Don't Burn Your Life Out!' campaign will take place in the Vitebsk region in four stages
The first stage of the republican campaign has already started. Within its framework, as reported by the press secretary of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Marina Fando, rescuers are talking with passengers on public transport, at train stations and bus stops, reminding them of the consequences of a discarded cigarette and the dangers posed by smokers who abuse alcohol.
The second stage of the campaign will be held from November 15 to 21 at industrial enterprises and organizations, houses of culture, and public catering establishments. And from November 22, attention will be focused on higher and secondary educational institutions, and healthcare facilities. Youth will be offered to participate in thematic programs, quizzes, and contests, and will be shown preventive and educational films. In addition, in the lobbies of hospitals and polyclinics, citizens will be able to exchange cigarettes for sweets, receive thematic leaflets and memos.
The final stage will take place on November 29-30 in large shopping centers, markets, and other places of mass gathering. The public can expect not only performances by creative groups but also contests to test knowledge of safety rules, a presentation of the mobile application "Help is Nearby," and training in first aid and the use of primary fire extinguishing means.
Young rescuer-firefighters, representatives of the Belarusian Voluntary Fire Society, students, Belgosstrakh, and cultural institutions will help the Ministry of Emergency Situations staff conduct the campaign. Together, they will try to draw public attention to the problem of people's deaths due to carelessness while smoking. By the way, in the 10 months of the current year, 835 fires occurred in the republic due to unextinguished cigarettes, claiming the lives of more than 230 people.
