Alexander Chervyakov on the development of the Orsha region: much has been done, but there is a lag that needs to be eliminated

Much has been done since the start of the socio-economic development program for the Orsha District, although there is a lag in a number of indicators, which need to be improved as quickly as possible. Belarusian Economy Minister Alexander Chervyakov stated this to journalists during a field meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

"We reviewed the results of the work on the socio-economic development program for the Orsha District. This is our pilot project. Its goal is to develop tools and mechanisms for the development of territories with a population of over 80 thousand people, in order to then extend this experience to similar regions and cities, and there are 13 of them in Belarus. Two and a half years have passed since the program's implementation, and there are already certain results. These include the creation of new facilities, as well as the restoration and modernization of old abandoned buildings. This example shows how to prudently use the potential we have. In general, regarding the implementation of the development program, the majority of measures have been completed. However, there is a lag in some indicators that need to be caught up by the end of the program's term. There are also issues related to the efficiency of resource investment, the quality of work performed, and the financial condition of organizations and enterprises. We need to focus on these areas so that the program is completed on time and as accurately as possible according to the designated projects," the Economy Minister noted.
