Alexander Lukashenko: the approach to farming in the Vitebsk region must be fundamentally changed
"A separate, specific issue, but very important for the country - the Vitebsk region. We need to undertake a serious reform of the agro-industrial complex of the Vitebsk region. We agreed to start with the structure of sown areas. We need to fundamentally change the approach to agriculture in the Vitebsk region," emphasized Alexander Lukashenko.
In this regard, the head of state inquired about the work already carried out in this direction and how the region intends to solve the set tasks in the coming year. "We must solve this problem once and for all, especially with the structure of sown areas, focusing on the structure of agricultural production. That is, what we will produce there: milk, beef, pork, poultry, taking into account the climatic conditions of the Vitebsk region and soil fertility, the level not only of crop production, but also of agriculture, I mean primarily personnel," said the President.
At the same time, he demanded to report on the merits, not to hush up problems, trying to present everything in a favorable light. "You will not fix the situation with reports on the gross production of this or that product. The main thing is money. If you have it, you are working normally, production is profitable - well done. If not, what is there to talk about, what are your weight gains, what is the milk fat content, and so on. This is important for operational management of production. But it is not my function to manage operationally. It should end at the governor's level and be forwarded to you for information. The main thing is efficiency indicators, and you cannot falsify them," Alexander Lukashenko summarized.
