Alexander Lukashenko visited farms in the Mogilev and Vitebsk regions
Alexander Grigoryevich noted that the places for the visit were not chosen by chance: this is his small homeland, and he has worked here since childhood. "I came to work today. This is the President's field. Once, someone said it lightly. This is truly my field where I worked," explained the head of the Belarusian state.
He heard reports on the progress of the harvesting campaign in the country and individual regions, and discussed in detail with specialists the nuances of using various grain varieties of domestic and foreign selection. He paid special attention to the issue of providing farmers with high-quality domestic grain harvesting equipment.
It was precisely on Alexander Lukashenko's instructions that the development of domestic combine harvester construction began at one time; over two decades, Gomselmash has created and mastered the production of seven basic models of grain harvesting combines and 38 modifications of different classes.
This time, in the field, the President evaluated the KZS-1624-1 combine harvester, which occupies the top position in the "Palesse" combine harvester model range. After hearing information about its technical features and operating experience, Alexander Lukashenko instructed to update the model by the next harvest, eliminating all shortcomings identified in practice, and to start developing and creating an even more advanced combine harvester. Then he decided to test its operation personally, positioning himself on the platform near the cabin.
Seeing how the equipment behaves while in motion, the President noted: "We need to prove that this combine harvester can achieve results no worse than imported ones. Much depends on the machine operator. The main thing is the person." He emphasized the important role of those who directly operate the equipment: if approached with expertise, the results will be higher, and the equipment will be better preserved.
At one time, this field became experimental in terms of grain production technologies, and the head of state took the issue under his control. As a result, this year the wheat yield here was 91 centners per hectare. As the head of state noted, in his youth, the harvest from this field did not exceed 13-17 centners per hectare. This confirms that by using quality seeds, observing agricultural practices and all technological processes, high yields can be obtained on almost any soil.
Alexander Lukashenko demanded not to slow down the pace of the harvesting campaign. Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Rusy reported that grain and leguminous crops have been harvested on 80.2% of the areas in the country with an average yield of 36 centners per hectare. About 6.3 million tons have been threshed.
"By this evening, we will reach last year's gross harvest," the Deputy Prime Minister said. According to him, this year Belarusian farmers have received a good harvest of other crops as well, with indicators exceeding last year's in many cases.
In addition to harvesting, agriculture faces other equally important tasks now, the President emphasized. It is necessary to quickly move on to sowing work to lay the foundation for a good harvest for the next year. And, of course, the mowing of grasses is under control. So, farmers are indeed having a busy time.
At the end of the meeting, Alexander Lukashenko proposed to recall traditions and gave a master class on harvesting grain with a sickle to the journalists present at the meeting. Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Rusy, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Sherstnev, and other leaders of the local power vertical also took part in the peculiar toloс. A special atmosphere was created by the fact that the journalists were wearing T-shirts with Belarusian ornaments. A true national flavor in a bountiful Belarusian field!
