Alexander Strykh, who previously held the position of Deputy General Director of Belshina OJSC for Social Affairs, has been appointed Director of the Yakub Kolas National Academic Drama Theater in Vitebsk, Minister of Culture Boris Svetlov informed journalists after a meeting of the organizing committee of the XXVII International Festival of Modern Choreography in Vitebsk, reports a BELTA correspondent. Today, at a closed meeting, Boris Svetlov introduced the new head to the theater staff.

"Lately, there has been a separation of the director's and artistic corps in cultural institutions. The Kolas Theater was one of the last strongholds where management and artistic leadership were combined by one person - Valery Anisenko. The time for change has come, the institution is facing new tasks, which requires a competent organizer of the theatrical process," explained Boris Svetlov.

According to the minister, he consciously chooses people with organizational experience and high communication skills for leadership positions. Alexander Strykh, although a new person in the field of culture, has the necessary set of business qualities that will allow him to perform the assigned tasks. Meanwhile, Valery Anisenko will be able to concentrate on creative work as the artistic director.
