Alexander Subbotin launched the voluntary republican campaign 'Let's Restore the Forests Together!'
This year, the campaign is dedicated to the Year of Quality and is held under the motto "Plant Your Own Tree!". Today, the leadership of the regional executive committee, together with representatives of the district authorities and forestry workers, planted over 10 thousand pine seedlings and about 5 thousand birch seedlings on an area of 3.1 hectares in the Bogushevskoye forestry.
The wife and daughter of the head of the region, Irina and Alexandra, also took part in planting forest crops.
- This is not the first time we have participated in this campaign, and we always enjoy spending time in the forest, in nature. Here we can work physically, laugh, and most importantly, help create a new forest," said Alexander Subbotin. - It is necessary to teach children to work and to treat the forest with care from childhood, by personal example. That's why I brought my daughter with me today. I think the thought that new trees, which you planted yourself, will soon grow here brings joy and pride to every participant of the campaign.
As noted by the General Director of Vitebsk State Forestry Production Association Yury Lipsky, this year, as part of the campaign, it is planned to create over two thousand hectares of forests in the northern region by planting about 12 million seedlings of pine, spruce, and birch. It is expected that about 12 thousand people will join this good cause, including not only foresters and their families, but also work collectives, schoolchildren, representatives of various authorities, and volunteers.
- This year, we plan to create about 3,000 hectares of new forests, mostly planted in the spring, - emphasized Yuri Lipsky. - We will plant some forests in the autumn in forest areas affected by last year's windfalls.
The campaign will last until April 20. To participate, you should contact your nearest forestry enterprise or forest district, where you will be provided with planting material and assigned a plot for planting forest crops.
