Alexander Subbotin: a million tons of grain in the Vitebsk region - behind this figure lies the tremendous work of people
The harvest of 1 million tons of grain, which was gathered by the Vitebsk region's farmers, is the result of tremendous human effort. This opinion was expressed at the ceremony honoring the grain growers in the Dubrovno district, where the millionth ton of grain was harvested, by the chairman of the regional executive committee, Alexander Subbotin.
According to the head of the region, the achievement of one million tons of grain became possible primarily thanks to the workers of the region's agro-industrial complex, from those who determined the plots and crops to be sown, to those who transported the harvest from the field. "If even one person in this chain had failed, nothing would have happened. Everyone worked in unison, there was a lot of work, and here is the result," emphasized Alexander Subbotin.
The Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee noted that a million tons of grain for the Vitebsk region is not the limit. "This figure is justified. It will help the agricultural sector to untie some economic knots. I hope we will increase. This year, the weather helped, and the country helped, everyone was charged for victory. We can do more, and the evidence is that from some fields we harvested 80 centners per hectare. And these results were obtained on our Vitebsk land," said Alexander Subbotin.
No more than 10% of the areas remain to be harvested in the Vitebsk region. Three districts - Orsha, Vitebsk, and Rossonsky - have completed the harvest, and in almost 50 farms of the region, the harvesting campaign has also come to an end. Among the leaders of the harvest this year, the agricultural production cooperative "Larinovka" of the Orsha district, where 76 centners per hectare were threshed, and the open joint-stock company "Khotily-Agro" of the Postavy district (about 68 centners per hectare) are traditionally distinguished.
Last year, the Vitebsk region's grain harvest weighed only 780,000 tons, but this year it will increase by 20-25%. The final results will be summed up after the harvest is completed throughout the region, but the forecast expects about 1.1 million tons of grain. The main key to success lies in adhering to crop cultivation technologies. First of all, this includes timely application of sufficient fertilizers and chemical weeding. And the heavens also made a gift to the northern region - two weeks of sunny weather, which allowed machine operators to harvest the crops from the fields in a short period of time. -0-
