The unique aura of Vitebsk and its invaluable capital are created by people. This was stated by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, at the opening of the Vitebsk City Day celebration in the Summer Amphitheater.

The head of the northern region congratulated the citizens on the 1049th anniversary of the founding of Vitebsk and the 79th anniversary of its liberation from the Nazi invaders. He noted that the history of the regional center goes back centuries, and it has faced many trials.

"At the cost of great human sacrifices and material losses, our city stood firm during the Great Patriotic War. The selflessness and diligence of the older generation helped revive it from the ruins, breathed new life into it. Multiplying the historical and cultural traditions of past centuries, the city preserves its identity and flavor," said Alexander Subbotin. "The unique aura of the city and its priceless capital are created by people. Open, generous in soul and heart, hardworking and responsible Vitebsk residents know how to think innovatively, combining experience and skill with the desire for continuous improvement."

The achievements of Vitebsk, emphasized the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, are multiplied by the labor and talent of its residents, thanks to which the city's authority is growing.

The products of Vitebsk enterprises are well-known abroad. The regional center sets the tone in the innovative development of the industrial sector, as the city produces the entire republican volume of dolomite flour, carpets and carpet products, linen fabrics, and half of the footwear produced in Belarus.

"It is gratifying that Vitebsk products are widely known not only in Belarus but also far beyond its borders. Today, 73 countries conduct foreign trade activities with the city's organizations," noted Alexander Subbotin.

He pointed out that the regional center is constantly being updated, growing with new social facilities, and modernizing the appearance of familiar buildings, streets, squares, and public spaces. New houses are appearing in residential areas, and entire microdistricts are being built. One-third of the region's total housing construction is taking place in Vitebsk.

"Our higher education institutions have a high reputation, and the achievements of our art and sports schools have brought the city worldwide fame. The hallmark of modern Vitebsk is, of course, the Slavic Bazaar International Arts Festival. This vibrant and large-scale forum is known and loved by millions of people both near and far abroad. It annually gathers participants and guests from dozens of countries. And in less than three weeks, the fanfares of the 32nd festival will sound," he recalled.

The head of the region added that Vitebsk has great potential and broad prospects. This leaves no doubt that the city will continue to make a worthy contribution to the socio-economic and cultural development of the region and contribute to the further strengthening and prosperity of the country.
