Alexander Subbotin on the Biosecurity Council: the issue of working with GMOs and laboratories for their creation was considered
At a meeting of the Council for Biosafety under the Council of Ministers, the issue of working with GMOs and laboratories for their creation was considered. This was stated by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, summing up the results of the meeting of the Council for Biosafety under the Council of Ministers, BELTA reports.
"The Council is already starting to work systematically, this is not our first meeting. At the same time, we are still at the very beginning of the work of this body. It is gratifying to see that everyone has very clearly engaged in the work. Analytics are appearing about what to expect in the future, what is happening at our borders, what diseases are circulating within the country among animals and people, how best to prepare to repel any biological threat, and so on," Alexander Subbotin noted.
According to him, today the issue of working with GMOs was also considered, not only in terms of controlling the import of feed and products with this component, but also additionally focused on laboratories that design GMOs and work with them.
"We are moving towards a unified system that defines the work and design of organisms, so as not to harm ourselves and our economy," the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee summarized.
