Orthodox believers celebrated the Bright Resurrection of Christ. On the eve, on Great Saturday, Archbishop Dmitry of Vitebsk and Orsha performed vespers in the Holy Protection Church of Vitebsk, and in the morning arrived at the Holy Assumption Cathedral, where he held a festive prayer service. The Holy Fire from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem was delivered to the service.

– I was asked if the holy fire would be delivered to Vitebsk this year. I answered that I didn't know. And then, when the prayer service began, a lamp with a particle of God's grace was brought into the church, – said the bishop and asked everyone to light candles from the Holy Fire.

By the way, this time the delegation from Minsk did not fly to Israel, and the holy fire was delivered from Moscow. From there, the fire was brought by plane in a special lamp to Minsk, and then to Vitebsk.

– The most important moment in our lives is faith. It is given to a person as a gift from God. The Orthodox Church preserves the succession of true faith, – noted the head of the Vitebsk diocese. – And the Resurrection of Christ is the essence of Orthodox faith. The Lord is with us! We always feel his presence in our hearts. Let us be firm in our moral foundation!

Archbishop, clergy, and all Orthodox believers were congratulated by the chairman of the regional executive committee, Alexander Subbotin, who came to the church to meet the Bright Resurrection.

– Today we celebrate the main Christian holiday – Easter. May God's blessing be with each of you, with your loved ones, and on our wonderful land, – the head of the region addressed those present in the church, and presented the bishop with a bouquet of white roses.

After the divine service, Alexander Subbotin shared his feelings.

– Easter is a time of rebirth, hope, spring. With these feelings, all believers go to church. The words "Christ is Risen!" symbolize faith in the bright, the good, and give hope for God's grace, – emphasized the head of the region.
