Alexander Subbotin: Vitebsk "Display" products can and should compete with foreign counterparts

Products of OJSC "Display Design Bureau" can and should compete with foreign counterparts, but the enterprise needs highly qualified personnel, noted the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin.

The director of the enterprise, Alexander Voitenkov, told the head of the region about a new development that is undergoing certification - high-contrast medical displays. Their advantage lies in 100% accurate color reproduction. Such monitors will be indispensable in laparoscopic and endoscopic systems. In relevant operations, the image transmits a real color picture, which increases the accuracy of identifying problem areas, such as a cancerous tumor.

Having familiarized himself with the developments of one of the leading enterprises and scientific centers of the Vitebsk region, Alexander Subbotin noted that "Display" products can and should compete with foreign counterparts. "This is a necessary, import-substituting product, it will be in demand in our country, it is needed in our hospitals. The enterprise itself forecasts its tasks for 15-20 years ahead and is already preparing for it," said the head of the region.

The management of the "Display" Design Bureau voiced current issues that the regional authorities could help resolve. "This is primarily the need for highly qualified and highly specialized personnel, which is a fairly standard problem for enterprises and organizations with a significant scientific component. A generation of scientific and technological personnel has been missed, who could now fully realize their potential. These are workers and designers who will be needed given the current order portfolio and the development of Display's scientific potential. They exist, but there are not enough of them. Training the entire range of specialists for this enterprise in just one region is difficult; we may raise this issue at the national level, because the fields needed at Display are taught in various educational institutions across the country," noted Alexander Subbotin.-0-
