Alexander Subbotin held a «hotline» with residents of the Vitebsk region

"Hotlines" should lead to daily systematic work on the ground, noted the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin after the telephone conversation with the residents of the Vitebsk region.

Indeed, many issues that people raised with the head of the region during the "direct line" could have been resolved at the district or city level. Sometimes, everything depends on a good specialist in their field or a kind word from a representative of the authorities. But sometimes, in response to their appeal, a person receives a perfunctory reply or promises, the fulfillment of which, as the proverb says, takes three years to wait. Or even longer.

Therefore, the conversation with the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee often begins with resentment. A resident of the village of Privolnaya, Vitebsk district, could not hide it. The fact is that in the twentieth of May, the man was helping to bury a person in the village cemetery. He was driving the coffin with the deceased. And the traffic police officers issued him a citation for driving off the public road.

– Yes, formally I violated the rule, but there is simply no other way to get to the cemetery. The road ends earlier. What should I do? Trinity Sunday is soon, people will want to visit their deceased relatives, many are elderly, some cannot walk. Will everyone become violators? – the man laments.

And although he was not fined, a report was drawn up, and the violation will be recorded in the traffic police database. It's offensive.

Alexander Subbotin instructed the head of the Vitebsk district to deal with this problem – to equip the road to the cemetery so that there are no such forced formal violations.

A total of over 20 calls were received for the "direct line" of the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee. They traditionally concerned the work of housing and communal services, road repairs, landscaping, and land disputes.

This time, several calls came from residents of the Vitebsk region, who complained about the condition of the Rybaki – Kotovo and Bolshukhi – Fokino roads, the closure of a store, poor home heating, and overcharged utility payments, and asked for help in obtaining social housing for an orphan, and for attention to the improvement of the agro-town of Vymno.

Three residents of house No. 21 on Academic Pavlov Street in Vitebsk immediately told the head of the region about their ordeals with various authorities.

– For several years, we have been complaining about interruptions in hot water supply and sewage in our basement. They promise to fix everything. Brigades arrive, pump out the sewage, weld something, but after a while, everything returns to its previous state, – the women share their troubles one after another.

Alexander Subbotin instructed the chairman of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, Nikolai Orlov, to resolve this issue. The mayor explained that work on this house had already begun and promised the residents that everything would be done in the near future.

A resident of house No. 39 on Moskovsky Prospekt in the regional center has also been conducting lengthy negotiations with housing and communal services. He asks to remove the threshold in the entrance, which makes it difficult for elderly people and mothers with strollers to go outside.

– My appeals are either ignored, or they send boilerplate responses. And the work itself would take only a few hours, – the man says.

This appeal has been taken under control. And the applicant was assured that the obstacle would be removed in the coming days.

The "direct line" also received appeals from Novopolotsk, Orsha, Verkhnedvinsk, and Lepel districts regarding the improvement of courtyard areas, the launch of a water de-ironing station, and the creation of a village of the future. A pleasant exception was a call from a resident of the Bilevo microdistrict, who thanked the utility workers for their good work.

– "Direct lines" are a kind of marker that highlights what needs attention and where to work better. Formalism and indifference to people's troubles must not be allowed. I hope we will overcome this situation, and those on whom the resolution of problems depends will treat them as their own. Then there will be no need to give instructions from above and put their implementation under control, – Alexander Subbotin summed up.
