Alexander Subbotin spoke about how to achieve industrial growth in the Vitebsk region in 2024

In 2024, the industrial production index in the Vitebsk region is planned to be 104% compared to 2023, driven by increased production and sales of products, including import-substituting ones, both domestically and in the markets of friendly countries. This was announced by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, at a meeting of the regional council of deputies.

The head of the region outlined the development directions for the industrial sector of the northern region. "In 2024, the main driving factor for development in the food industry will be the increased utilization of production capacities through the development of raw material zones and increased supply of raw materials for industrial processing, as well as the saturation of the consumer market with dairy and meat products and other food items. The industrial production index for the food industry is projected to be at least 104.5% in 2024 compared to 2023," noted Alexander Subbotin.

He mentioned that next year, technical re-equipment and modernization will continue at dairy and meat processing enterprises, some organizations will re-profile individual workshops, and new production facilities will be opened.

Light industry enterprises will continue to work on the localized modernization of production sites, as well as implement investment projects.

Furthermore, the construction of a digitized plant for the production of innovative veterinary drugs and the reconstruction of a technological line for the production of uncalcined dolomite powder will continue in the Vitebsk region. In 2024, an investment project for the construction of a fish processing enterprise within the FEZ "Vitebsk" will commence, with plans to employ over 300 people.

"The key tasks in the region's industry in 2024 will be to increase the efficiency of organizations by increasing the utilization of production capacities, the depth of raw material processing, and cost optimization, the implementation of import substitution projects and the creation of new enterprises and production facilities, including by small and medium-sized businesses, and the expansion of export potential. There is also the task of increasing the level of product localization through the use of components, parts, materials, and assemblies of Belarusian production, modernization and technical re-equipment of production facilities, the introduction of new technologies and high-performance equipment. The implementation of these and other measures will allow in 2024 to ensure a sales profitability in industry of at least 7%, a decrease in the cost level by 1.8%, and import intensity by 4.6%," explained Alexander Subbotin.
