Alexander Subbotin: The Vitebsk region must cope with the first mowing of grasses by June 20-23, but mobilization is needed
Today, June 8, an oblast seminar-meeting "On measures for the organization and conduct of the fodder harvesting campaign in 2022" is being held in the Polotsk district. In the Vitebsk region, optimal phases for harvesting herbage for fodder purposes have arrived everywhere.
In 2021, farms in the Vitebsk region harvested 918.4 thousand tons of green fodder in terms of fodder units, or 23.1 centners per conventional head of cattle. For this year, the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, set a task for the region's agrarians:
– Taking into account the creation of a one-and-a-half-year supply from the new harvest, it is necessary to harvest 1.2 million tons of fodder units of green fodder, or 30 centners per conventional head of cattle, including 125 thousand tons of hay, and 2 million tons each of silage and haylage.
Mobilize all technical and human resources, organize work on weekends and holidays. Assign appropriate daily mowing tasks to the performers and take their execution under personal control.
Alexander Subbotin also drew attention to the fact that fodder harvesting machinery should operate in two shifts – throughout daylight hours (around the clock for tamping). If necessary, it should be transferred to lagging agricultural organizations.
The work of balers-wrappers for fodder in polymer packaging is under special control. To fulfill the tasks of the regional executive committee (142 thousand tons, the result of 2021 is 86 thousand tons), it is necessary to ensure high-performance operation of all available presses in fodder harvesting teams, equipping them with the necessary set of equipment.
– In accordance with the instructions of the Head of State, the storage of green fodder in heaps and mounds should be excluded, – Alexander Subbotin reminded.
