Alexander Subbotin to the participants of the regional New Year's tree: you are all winners and our pride

The regional charity New Year's celebration, which became another event of the republican campaign "Our Children," gathered 950 boys and girls from all over the region in Vitebsk.
Children aged 8 to 14, who are already showing high results in studies, sciences, sports, and arts at such a young age, gathered at the main regional Christmas tree. Before the start of the New Year's performance, artists from the "Vitebsk" Concert Hall conducted an interactive warm-up for the audience. Boys and girls clapped, stomped, sculpted imaginary snowmen, and performed simple exercises to gain energy and positivity. After that, they plunged into the atmosphere of a musical fairy tale and, together with Alice, the Cheshire Cat, Ded Moroz (Grandfather Frost), and Snegurochka (Snow Maiden), searched for a magical artifact, solved riddles, and completed various tasks.

Distinguished guests, including representatives of the regional and city executive committees, also came to congratulate the children. The head of the region, Alexander Subbotin, addressing the children, congratulated them on the upcoming New Year and thanked them for the diligence with which the children of the Vitebsk region have distinguished themselves in various fields. "On the eve of the New Year holidays, you will be the most important people on the planet. The best of the best have gathered here. You are already winners, you are our pride and great hopes for the future of our country. You have become the best in the world in some areas: some in science, some in education, culture, sports. The year has passed, thank you very much for the successes you are achieving, including for us adults. We believe that the next year will be better, brighter, kinder, so I would like to wish you an unbending will to win, good health, peace of mind, and to move only forward," said Alexander Subbotin.

In turn, the children presented the chairman of the regional executive committee with souvenirs made with their own hands. As the head of the region noted, on this holiday, even adults feel like children and await a New Year's miracle. Answering a question from a BELTA correspondent before the start of the festive concert, Alexander Subbotin said that the most memorable New Year holidays for him in childhood were school concerts. "The moments when we all prepared for school parties, when my parents dressed me in cowboy or musketeer costumes (which was fashionable then), were the brightest for me. The festive atmosphere, gifts, party poppers, the smell of tangerines - all this is the magic of the New Year that is remembered for a lifetime," he shared.

Similarly, for the young residents of the region, the winter celebration today became a great gift that will leave many memories. Ulyana Paukovа from Novopolotsk visited the regional New Year's tree for the second time. She first attended it as a second-grader, and was then amazed by the magical atmosphere that reigned in the Vitebsk Concert Hall. Now, as an eighth-grader, she has a conscious and almost adult view of this celebration. She wished her peers and adults not to give up on the way to their cherished goal: "If you take a step back from your dream, then immediately take two steps forward, because you need to strive for its fulfillment. Whatever the goal, everything can be achieved if you really want it and try." The young resident of Novopolotsk also said that although she is not yet seriously thinking about her future profession, she would like to try herself as a furniture designer. Her favorite colors in the interior are white and mint, and she plans to fill her home with them. If she decides to follow this path after graduation, then, as Ulyana said, she will work on exclusive furniture samples for Belarusians.

Daria Gornak, a schoolgirl from Senno, comes from a large family. For her, the past year was filled with both happy and not-so-pleasant moments, but she values the positive events the most. For her, the brightest memory of the year was the summer holidays with her family – with her parents, her older brother Maxim, who is studying at university and will operate drones, her younger brother Artyom, and her sister Alina, a future pediatrician. Daria expects new achievements in 2023, including at the upcoming regional piano competition, where she will compete for another victory.

At the celebration, the children not only watched the concert program but also participated in various master classes, leaving behind crafts as souvenirs from today's regional Christmas tree event.
