Alexander Subbotin: It is important to make the agricultural sector of the Vitebsk region prestigious

It is important to make the agricultural sector of the Vitebsk region prestigious and more attractive to workers in the near future. This was stated by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin, at the regional festival-fair of village workers "Dazhynki" in Vitebsk.

The head of the northern region noted that the region understands the need to create a strong feed base. Therefore, the main task here is fodder harvesting, increasing the sowing of alfalfa and clover. "This year, when grasses and pastures burned out due to high abnormal temperatures, we increased the sowing of intermediate crops in order not to lose fodder and to prepare for winter," he explained. "It is important to make the agricultural sector of the Vitebsk region prestigious in the near future. And the tools for action are obvious: it is necessary to form positive motivation for the profession through an attractive system of material incentives."

A serious step in this direction has already been taken, explained Alexander Subbotin. In particular, the salaries of machine operators and livestock specialists have been increased. By the way, the average monthly salary in the region's agricultural organizations exceeded last year's level by 20% and amounted to Br1250.

"A fundamentally new approach is also being adopted by the personnel training system for the agro-industrial complex," noted the chairman of the regional executive committee. "Today, we face serious challenges, the solution to which we see in raising a new generation of agrarians, attracting youth to continuous agricultural education, and career guidance for students, starting from school desks." According to him, intensive work is also being carried out in this direction. Agro-classes operate in every district, and individual career guidance work is conducted with students. Specialized secondary and higher education institutions allow us to strengthen these positions, and only advanced farms serve as the base. The head of the northern region emphasized that employers for the rural sector must directly participate in forming a team of professionals for their enterprises.

"Vitebsk region strives to create the most attractive conditions for young specialists. The agro-industrial complex has always been famous for its professionals, whose work is respected and honored. Today, the industry faces big, ambitious tasks. And their solution will depend on the level of preparedness of our personnel, their ability to work and love what they do," concluded Alexander Subbotin.
