Today, as part of the nationwide campaign "We are Citizens of Belarus," passports were solemnly presented to dozens of gifted and talented young students from the Vitebsk region.

The central event was attended by the Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Subbotin.

“Dear young people, today is a double celebration for you,” the head of the region addressed the youth. “On Constitution Day, you are receiving the main document of a citizen. You have been an integral part of Belarus since birth, and today you are becoming an active part of society, citizens who bear responsibility for our country.”

Alexander Subbotin presented passports to nearly two dozen young men and women from the Dvina region who have achieved success in their studies, arts, research, and sports.

On behalf of the youth, Yevgeny Pachkovsky, a student of Gymnasium No. 2 in Polotsk, gave a speech. He said that being a citizen is a high honor and responsibility to society and oneself, and assured that the younger generation would strengthen the good name of their beloved region through their studies, work, and deeds.

An open dialogue took place, during which Alexander Subbotin answered questions from the younger generation. Then, the guys were given a tour of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee building.

The All-Belarusian campaign "We are Citizens of Belarus" has been held since 2004 on the initiative of the BRSM. On Constitution Day, passports are presented in a solemn ceremony to the best representatives of the youth by the country's and regions' leaders. This year, about 300 young men and women from the Vitebsk region received their main document during the campaign.
