Alexander Terekhov named the key areas for reducing costs in housing and communal services

Diversification of fuel types and increasing energy efficiency are key areas for reducing costs in the housing and communal services sector. This was announced to journalists by the Minister of Housing and Communal Services of Belarus, Alexander Terekhov, in response to a question from a BELTA correspondent.

The Minister emphasized that currently, all work in the housing and communal services system is aimed at reducing costs. "That is, at the application of technologies that allow providing a high-quality and affordable housing and communal service at the lowest possible cost," said Alexander Terekhov. "The most important direction we see is the diversification of fuel types, the transition from natural gas to the use of local fuel types, in particular wood chips. It is this fuel that allows for automatic heat supply – a minimal number of workers are involved in the boiler equipment. The second key direction is increasing energy efficiency."

The head of the ministry noted that at the facilities that the Vitebsk region demonstrated to specialists from all over the republic today, the best developments of the region's housing and communal services system have been applied. "We visited the enterprise 'Polymerkonstruktsiya', which is involved in wastewater treatment and purification systems, and water supply systems. We were shown applied samples with a very low indicator of specific electricity consumption. The application of such technologies allows reducing the cost of the service," said Alexander Terekhov.

He highly praised the new equipment at the modernized boiler house "5th Regiment" in Vitebsk. "In fact, the specialists of the boiler houses and heating networks of Vitebsk were not afraid to independently build what is used in European countries. The new equipment was designed by specialists. And we see that due to a special technology for additional heat recovery, the boiler house's efficiency has increased. This is worthy of respect and corresponds to the goals and objectives facing the housing and communal services system today," the minister emphasized. According to him, such boiler houses will be replicated throughout the country. "We see the high efficiency of the investment

means. All boiler houses that will undergo reconstruction from the next heating season (depending on local conditions) should be equipped with such installations. The Ministry will take measures to widely disseminate this experience," Alexander Terekhov summarized.
