Alena Lanskaya leads after the first day of the Vitebsk-2011 performers' contest
July 12, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA/. Belarusian participant in the "Vitebsk-2011" pop song performers' contest at the "Slavianski Bazaar" Alena Lanskaya is leading after the first competitive day, a BELTA correspondent reports.
Out of a possible 90 points, the young singer scored 89. However, she will have no time to relax on the second competitive day, when she will have to perform a song accompanied by the National Concert Orchestra of Belarus. Vladimir Kvasnitsa from Ukraine and David Dale from the Czech Republic are trailing her by just one point. Ruta from Lithuania follows the top three leaders with 86 points. Dimitar Atanasov from Bulgaria, Alisher Karimov from Kazakhstan, Cristina Scarlat from Moldova, and Mari Carne from Russia scored 83 points each.
The Vitebsk audience, as always, was benevolent towards the young artists, greeting them with stormy applause and not hiding their emotions if the jury's scores did not coincide with their opinion. Alisher Karimov, Vladimir Kvasnitsa, and Kristina Scarlat won the sincere sympathy of the hall.
The contest will conclude today, but the intrigue will remain until tomorrow, as the performer with the highest number of points does not always receive the festival's Grand Prix. In addition, according to the contest rules, the jury may divide the second and third prizes.
Twenty performers from 20 countries are participating in the XX International Pop Song Performers' Contest "Vitebsk-2011". The jury is headed by Belarusian Minister of Culture Pavel Latushko. -0-
