Alina Talay plans to take revenge for the European Championships at the Rio Games
Hurdler Alina Talai plans to take revenge at the Rio Games for the European Championships in Amsterdam, where she took second place, losing the gold medal at the very finish line. The athlete herself announced this today during an open evening training session for everyone.
"My main goal is to perform well. I am going to the upcoming Olympics with hope for the best, and life will show how it turns out," Alina Talai said. "My main opponent is myself and my result. I have to overcome myself at this important start. Of course, no one excludes other rivals, but first and foremost, it is a struggle with myself," the runner noted.
The medalist of the World and European Championships in the 100m hurdles said that she is flying to Austria tomorrow, where she will prepare for the Olympic Games with her coach. The athlete expects to be in peak form by the start of the main event of the four-year period. She will return to Minsk in early August to fly to Rio with the team.
Alina Talai also assessed the results of the European Championships, where she won silver, losing by 0.06 seconds to German Cindy Roleder. "I can say that I am generally satisfied with the silver, but, of course, I wanted to be first. It was frustrating, but it gave me competitive anger, so I am going to the Olympics with great enthusiasm. 12.63 seconds is my best result this season, but I think I need to run 12.50 seconds to win a medal at the Olympics. And I want to take revenge on Cindy Roleder."
