Alleys in honor of the 130th anniversary of the birth of Kolas and Kupala will be laid in the Vitebsk region

Allees in honor of the 130th anniversary of the birth of Belarusian classics Yakub Kolas and Yanka Kupala will be laid in the Vitebsk region, BELTA was informed by the Vitebsk Regional Production Forestry Association. The laying of memorial alleys will take place during the republican campaign "Forest Week-2012", which is held from April 21 to 28. One of them will appear in the Kopysky forestry of the Orsha forestries, near which the Yanka Kupala Literary Museum is located. In this house, formerly the office of the Kopysky forestry, in the summer of 1935, Yanka Kupala lived for some time with the forester Shimansky's family while the famous writer's dacha was being built. The second alley will be laid in the Tolochinsky forestry of the Tolochinsky forestries, on the territory of which the village of Sani is located, associated with the name of Yakub Kolas: in his youth, he taught here in a private school. In addition, a memorial alley is planned to be laid in the Vitebsk forestry in honor of the Great Patriotic War veteran Viktor Iosifovich Kozitsky, who worked here as chief forester for more than 20 years. During Forest Week, a number of other events are planned in the region's forestries. Thus, on the territory of forestries and forest districts, with the participation of youth, the population, and employees of various organizations that have expressed a desire to participate in the campaign, trees of coniferous and deciduous species will be planted. Forestry workers will improve the territory of water protection zones, children's camps and medical and preventive institutions, clear forest belts of clutter, and tidy up roadside recreation areas. At the same time, the busy workdays will be accompanied by bright cultural and sports events. Everyone is invited to participate in the campaign. Every resident of the region will have the opportunity to plant their own tree. Teams of enterprises, organizations, and institutions can lay alleys during these days, the association added. -0-
