"Alley of Peace" in Novopolotsk and Marathon of Kindness in Vitebsk. International Day of Peace will be celebrated in the Vitebsk region

On September 21, the International Day of Peace is celebrated in various countries, and it is gratifying to note that the Vitebsk region supports the initiative with numerous charitable deeds every year. This time, the festive events coincided with a significant date for the Belarusian Peace Foundation – its 55th anniversary.

Thus, in Novopolotsk, an "Alley of Peace" was planted for this occasion. Representatives of the city authorities, public organizations, educational institutions, and enterprises planted about fifty linden trees and shrubs. This green corner will become a worthy decoration for the young microdistrict and the city as a whole. A commemorative sign on the alley will remind that it was planted by the residents of Novopolotsk in honor of the 55th anniversary of the Belarusian Peace Foundation.

Volunteers of the BRSM "Kind Heart" movement also timed their action to the Day of Peace. They held a "Day of Kindness" in the regional center. The young people provided assistance to veterans and participants of the Great Patriotic War, lonely elderly people, families raising children with disabilities, and wards of social and rehabilitation centers. A bright event, as tradition dictates, was the charity marathon "All the Colors of Life for You," within which children's and youth creative groups of Vitebsk prepared a creative program. The Academy of Veterinary Medicine served as the venue for the concert. The money raised from ticket sales will be directed to the regional specialized Children's Home for the purchase of medical equipment necessary for the treatment and rehabilitation of the wards. The regional branch of the Peace Foundation will also transfer a certain amount to the institution.

As part of the anniversary celebrations in Orsha, the opening of a family-type children's home is planned soon, where a family raising 10 boys and girls left without parental care will reside. The public organization provided support to the future new residents in purchasing household appliances and furniture, and carrying out renovation works.

As for the babies born in the Vitebsk region specifically on September 21, they will be granted a special status – "Child of Peace." As reported by Tatyana Tumanova, Chairperson of the regional branch of the Belarusian Peace Foundation,

The honoring of newborns and their parents, as well as the presentation of relevant certificates, is scheduled for October 14 at the regional philharmonic hall as part of the ceremonial event dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the Belarusian Peace Foundation.
