The Alley of Partisan Glory in Vitebsk has supplemented the exposition of the M. Shmyrev Regional Museum
June 25, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. The Alley of Partisan Glory provides an opportunity to more fully feel the spirit of wartime and will serve as a visual example of the significance of the feat of Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War in the patriotic education of youth. This was stated by the head of the administration of the Oktyabrsky district of Vitebsk, Gennady Grebnev, today at the grand opening ceremony of the alley and the renovated park complex of the regional museum of Hero of the Soviet Union Minay Shmyrev, BELTA correspondent reports.
The ceremony was attended by war veterans and the daughter of the legendary partisan brigade commander Dina Shmyreva, as well as the heads of all districts of the region, and honored guests of the City Day, which Vitebsk celebrates this year on the eve of the liberation of the regional center from the Nazi invaders.
The alley is designed as an open-air exhibition recreation, recreating a partisan camp during the Great Patriotic War. The museum's exhibition and the park formed a single memorial complex dedicated to the partisan movement.
In the center of the alley, there are four dugouts, built according to original blueprints from 1942-1943 from the book "Partisan's Companion" of that time. Each of the partisan structures has its own functional purpose: a headquarters, an armory, a living quarters, and a medical dugout. When decorating them, items of partisan life from the funds of the M. Shmyrev museum were used. The exhibition is complemented by characteristic elements of the organization of a partisan camp, including a trench as one of the types of defensive fortifications. A railway platform of the 1940s is also installed here, as a symbol of the rail war waged by the partisans.
The participants of the grand ceremony became the first visitors to the exhibition that opened the same day at the museum, dedicated to the honorary citizen of Vitebsk, the Bulgarian Dobrin Dimitrov. During the war, he was the commissar of a special reconnaissance and sabotage group of the First Belarusian Partisan Brigade under the leadership of Minay Shmyrev. The exhibition features about 40 exhibits, including photographs and copies of personal documents, telling about the combat path of Dobrin Dimitrov and his post-war activities. When forming the exhibition, materials from the museum's funds were also used, which tell about the organization of the partisan movement in the region and help to form an idea of the life and combat work of the resistance fighters. The Embassy of Bulgaria in Belarus and the regional veterans' organization, which maintains contact with Dimitrov living in Sofia, provided great assistance to the museum in preparing the exhibition.
The exhibition is a continuation of the project dedicated to the honorary citizens of Vitebsk - participants of the Great Patriotic War, which is being implemented by the M. Shmyrev Regional Museum for the 65th anniversary of Victory. Dobrin Dimitrov was awarded this title in 1988 for his courage and heroism in the fight against the Nazi invaders on the territory of Vitebsk region and his active participation in the patriotic education of youth. -0-
