The Alley of Fame in Vitebsk will be replenished with new equipment for the city's birthday

June 7, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. The Alley of Glory on Victory Square in Vitebsk will be replenished with new equipment by the city's birthday, which will be celebrated on June 25, the head of the department for youth affairs and defense and mobilization work of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, Alexander Sidorenko, told a BELTA correspondent. In addition to the thirteen existing units of equipment and artillery pieces from the Great Patriotic War period, helicopters MI-2, MI-8, MI-24, a MIG-17 aircraft, and four modern armored personnel carriers will be installed within the next week. Two aircraft have already taken their honored places. The first exhibits of the Alley of Glory, which opened on the eve of Victory Day, included mortar and anti-aircraft artillery pieces, a howitzer, a T-34 tank, a SU-100 self-propelled gun, and other artillery. The open-air exhibition is designed to glorify the feat accomplished by the Belarusian people in the fight against fascist expansion. It is noteworthy that in the short time of its existence, the Alley of Glory has already become a favorite among the townspeople: newlyweds enjoy taking photos here, parents play with children, and young people stroll, noted Alexander Sidorenko. The Alley of Glory will appear in all its splendor before the residents and guests of Vitebsk by June 25. Vitebsk will celebrate its 1036th anniversary this year, and the city will celebrate its birthday. -0-
