The Alley of Laureates of the Special Prize of the President in Vitebsk will be transformed into the Square of Stars
The Alley of Laureates of the Special Prize of the President of Belarus "Through Art – to Peace and Mutual Understanding" in Vitebsk will be transformed into the Star Square of the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" Arts Festival. This issue was discussed today during a working trip to the Vitebsk region by the Head of the Presidential Administration, Alexander Kosinets.
The Head of the Presidential Administration gave instructions on the reconstruction and expansion of the place where the names of cultural figures closely associated with the "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" are immortalized. "They are stars of the Vitebsk festival because they received the President of Belarus award," stated the Head of the Administration. He gave instructions on improving the star location, which is one of Vitebsk's landmarks. The work should be completed by the beginning of the current XXV International Festival of Arts.
The Alley of Stars was laid in 2009 on the terrace of the Summer Amphitheater and is clearly visible from all observation decks. At the entrance, there is a stele crowned with a statuette of a girl with a wreath in her hands. This is an enlarged replica of the prize, which has been awarded annually since 2005 to the laureates of the special prize of the President "Through Art – to Peace and Mutual Understanding". On the square itself, there are squares of polished granite with the festival symbol – a cornflower, and each plate is inscribed with the name of the laureate and the year the prestigious award was presented. In different years, the award recipients included Edita Piekha, Lev Leshchenko, Alla Pugacheva, Sofia Rotaru, Alexandra Pakhmutova, Valery Leontiev, "Pesniary", Igor Luchenok, Nadezhda Babkina, Polad Bulbul-oglu. The first laureate of the award in 2005 was the Russian composer Andrei Petrov.
