A. Lukashenka notes the need to increase the pace of the harvest
July 21, Minsk /BELTA/. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko heard reports from the governors of Vitebsk and Grodno regions on the progress of the harvesting campaign today. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the press service of the Belarusian leader.
As of July 21, approximately 6% of grain areas have been harvested in the regions, and the harvesting of winter rapeseed is nearing completion (over 75% has already been harvested). As reported to the President by Alexander Kosinets and Semyon Shapiro, in the next day or two, the regions will launch mass grain harvesting at a rate of about 5% daily.
In connection with adverse weather conditions, the head of state drew the governors' attention to the need to increase harvesting rates, ensure its quality, and minimize losses of the harvested crops. He also demanded timely and rational harvesting of straw, its use as organic fertilizer, and timely sowing of winter rapeseed.
The President will make a working trip to Brest and Grodno regions at the end of this week, and next week he will inspect other regions of the country.
