A. Lukashenko set the task of ensuring maximum assistance to the work of international observers at the parliamentary elections
June 18, Minsk / Tatyana Polezhay - BELTA /. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has set the task to ensure maximum assistance to the work of international observers in the upcoming parliamentary elections in Belarus. He stated this today at a meeting on the preparation and conduct of elections to the fifth convocation of the National Assembly of Belarus, according to a BELTA correspondent.
Alexander Lukashenko noted that a favorable atmosphere should be created for the activities of international observers. "At the same time, I want to note: we will not drag any international observers into the country by force, as it was before. At the same time, we must grant the right to those who wish to see how the elections are held in Belarus," the head of state emphasized.
According to the President, observers, primarily from constructive political parties, trade unions, youth and veterans' organizations, and work collectives, should play the most active role in the upcoming elections. "This will strengthen public control over the parliamentary elections and make them more transparent," the head of state believes.
Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that illegal actions and political provocations aimed at destabilizing the situation in the country must be immediately suppressed, and those responsible must bear the established responsibility. "Respect for the law is mandatory for everyone! Without it, there can be no member of parliament," the President stressed.
"It is obvious that election campaigning cannot be carried out according to the rules of mass street actions. The task of law enforcement agencies is to prevent election meetings from escalating into such events. Law and order must be ensured everywhere!" the President noted. -0-
