A. Lukashenka counts on the impartiality and objectivity of American analysts' assessments
December 14, Minsk / Tatyana Polezhay - BELTA /. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko expects impartiality and objectivity from American analysts' assessments. The head of state stated this at a meeting with representatives of leading US think tanks, BelTA correspondent reports.
"I am sure that as true professionals, you will be impartial and objective in your assessments," the President said.
Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that the Belarusian side would like representatives of leading US think tanks to see everything with their own eyes in a normal working environment and get answers to their questions. "It is impossible to form a coherent objective position on any issue based on reports from a handful of biased journalists or reports from so-called independent 'experts'," the President noted.
"We are not limiting you in meetings, we are ready for an open conversation on the most pressing issues," the head of state said. "We fully understand the importance of direct dialogue without unnecessary intermediaries, without transmitters."
Alexander Lukashenko also added: "You have probably seen that we are completely open to you. We did not select anyone among those who wished to visit Belarus as part of your delegation. Everyone who wanted to come, who was interested in understanding the situation in Belarus on the spot, is at this table today."
Alexander Lukashenko expressed regret to some extent that such a meeting with representatives of leading US think tanks did not take place much earlier. "I am sure that then many problems and unclear points in Belarusian-American relations, and there are quite a few of them, would either not have arisen or would have already been resolved," the head of state emphasized. He also noted that the policy of official Washington towards a particular country is largely shaped by the assessments and forecasts of analysts. -0-
