A. Lukashenko approved the Decision on conducting state border policy and ensuring border security in 2011
January 11, Minsk / Vladimir Matveev - BELTA /. The Head of State Alexander Lukashenko approved the Decision on conducting the state border policy and ensuring the border security of Belarus in 2011, a BELTA correspondent reports.
"I am ready to hear the main provisions, the peculiarities of the current situation around Belarus, and what we must undertake not only in terms of border protection, but also in the state as a whole, to ensure a peaceful life for our people," Alexander Lukashenko said.
As reported to the Head of State by the Chairman of the State Border Committee Igor Rachkovsky, priority tasks and development directions for the border service bodies of Belarus have been formed for 2011.
According to him, the first task is to improve the system of conducting state border policy. "Our reforms have been evolutionary, and therefore, at the present time, there is no need to change the staff structures. The process of improving and refining this mechanism is underway," noted the Chairman of the State Border Committee.
As the second priority task, Igor Rachkovsky named active counteraction to organized crime in cooperation with the border guards of neighboring states. At the same time, he noted that crime is constantly improving, is technically equipped, and is acquiring new forms.
The third task is integrated border management, which involves the active implementation of modern technologies.
According to Igor Rachkovsky, one of the important areas, especially for Belarusian citizens, is ensuring the functioning of bilateral agreements with the governments of Poland, Lithuania, and Latvia on small border traffic. In this issue, it is necessary to ensure, on the one hand, the simplification of procedures and comfortable border crossing, and on the other hand, to guarantee the country's border security. -0-
