A. Lukashenko: There will be no "color revolutions" in Belarus as long as I am President

April 20, Minsk /Corr. BELTA/. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko will not allow "color revolutions" to take place in the country. He stated this on April 20 in his Address to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly, according to a BELTA correspondent. "Well, there will be no color revolutions here, my dear ones. There won't be! As long as I am President, there will be no revolutions!" he assured. "And no one here is going to shoot their own people. Our people are not so stupid as to go and smash and storm today after receiving some money from abroad. They will not do it, and there is no such situation. And there will be no such situation in the country, even if we buy everything we need from Russia at world prices," the head of state said. He stressed that Belarus has already "passed the point where we could be brought to our knees." "Sometimes the leadership of Russia proceeds from the assumption that they have nowhere to go. We will go! A country in the center of Europe will not be empty! But no one will be allowed to bend us or kick us!" the President stated. "However pathetic and loud it may sound: I am the President of the country, elected by a 10-million-strong nation, and I am not allowed to be bent, because it is a humiliation of the people when the President crawls on his knees before someone." "We survived the financial and economic crisis. And today I have to thank not our native Mother Russia, but whom? The IMF, Europe, the West - they gave us these billions for the country to survive. They supported us. Why do you treat us this way?" the President asked a rhetorical question. -0-
