Andreychenko: orphans must be sure that they are needed by society and the country

The state, caring people, and sponsors pay due attention to children left without parents. This was stated today to journalists by the Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko after the New Year's celebration, which was part of the republican campaign "Our Children," at the Begoml auxiliary boarding school in the Dokshitsy district.

The Speaker of Parliament noted that the New Year's Eve meeting at this educational institution has become a good tradition. "I have been visiting the boarding school for 12 years now. Children left without parents require special attention and help because their fate tests them from birth. It is important to communicate with them, visit them, and give them confidence that they are needed by our society and country. The help provided by the state, caring people, and sponsors is very important. The state pays due attention to such children," said Vladimir Andreichenko.

He noted that the school is improving every year, and the conditions for the children are getting better. "It is gratifying that the village of Begoml has also been transformed, many facilities have been put in order, streets and courtyards have been landscaped. There are no problems with jobs here; people are even brought here from other settlements," added Vladimir Andreichenko.

He wished the children health, the fulfillment of their desires, good studies, and not to forget their school. He thanked the teachers for their tremendous work and dedication to their students and presented the boarding school students with a computer and sweet gifts.

The Begoml boarding school was opened on September 12, 1960. In 1974, it was reorganized into a special boarding school. Children stay at the institution year-round. More than 100 students live in the boarding school: children with developmental disabilities and orphans. The school has a youth center, which is one of the components of the system for preparing graduates for independent life.

The New Year's charity event "Our Children" started in Belarus on December 9 and will run until January 10. The charity marathon is held under the patronage of Alexander Lukashenko. During the event, heads of republican government bodies, local executive and administrative bodies visit children's boarding schools and family-type homes, guardianship and foster families, families raising children with disabilities, correctional and developmental training and rehabilitation centers, and hospitals. They congratulate the children on the New Year and Christmas, present gifts, and help solve problems. Public associations have joined the charity event.
