Angelika Nikitina met with students and faculty of VSTU as part of the civil-patriotic marathon "#United"
– The theme of today's meeting can be divided into two parts. First of all, it is the unified voting day. To inform students about how important it is today to make their choice for the benefit of our country's development, its economy, to definitely come to the polling station and vote for candidates. This is our future, in which our children, their children will live, – emphasized Anzhelika Nikitina. – The second important issue is personnel training, which was discussed at a meeting with the heads of leading universities in Belarus by the head of state. Today, this is a very relevant issue, given that VSTU is one of the key universities in training personnel for the real economy sector, including the Vitebsk region. According to statistics, almost 60% of applicants here are young people from the Dvina region, who should come to our enterprises, get employed, and develop the region's economy.
Addressing the students and graduates of the university, the deputy chairperson of the regional executive committee emphasized that the unified voting day should unite our people, show unity for the benefit of the development of sovereign Belarus, the real economy sector, and peace on our land.
– Participating in elections is our civic duty, our position. It is important for every representative of the younger generation to express their opinion, to choose candidates. As a group leader, I actively participate in dialogue platforms, meetings dedicated to the electoral campaign, and I understand the full seriousness and responsibility of the unified voting day, – noted Alexandra Vodovuzova, a 2nd-year student of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of VSTU.
Rector of VSTU Andrey Kuznetsov noted that more than 1.5 thousand students of this university will take part in the elections, and 740 of them will vote for the first time.
During the meeting, Anzhelika Nikitina spoke about the socio-economic development of the Vitebsk region. The Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee emphasized that the country's economy is developing dynamically. In the northern region, all sectors of industry, all 13 sections, have shown positive dynamics since the beginning of the previous year.
– We have achieved a gross regional product of 103%, and an increase of over 117% in investments in fixed capital, – noted Anzhelika Nikitina. – If there are investments in the region, it means there is a future, enterprises will be built and developed, labor productivity and wage levels will increase, and we will be able to ensure a decent life for the population.
Today, there are about a thousand vacancies for specialists with higher education in the region's enterprises – these are engineering specialties, economic ones, etc. Also, this year, the conclusion of targeted agreements with enterprises has almost doubled. This dynamic, emphasized Anzhelika Nikitina, is gradually increasing.
Students actively asked the speakers questions. In particular, they were interested in the priority areas in the development of the industrial potential of the Vitebsk region, how they have changed due to sanctions pressure, the prospects for the region's economic development within the framework of the upcoming XI Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, and others.
